Lemon juice helps to reduce age spots. The presence of plenty of vitamin C in it makes it an antioxidant. And we all know that lemon has a bleaching effect that works magic on spots and freckles. Apply lemon juice with the help of a cotton ball on your face. Let it work for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off with plain water. Repeat the procedure thrice a week.
Lemon can be used with some other ingredients as well. A mixture of 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with half teaspoon of milk cream and 1 teaspoon of egg white gives you even better results. This face pack can be applied for 15 to 20 minutes, twice a week .
Another remedy is a combination of equal amounts of honey and lemon juice. Mix them well. Apply all over your face and neck. Massage it into your skin gently. After 20 minutes wash it out with mildly warm water.
Oil producing glands that keep the skin smooth stop or slow their job as you grow old. Coconut has ample of vitamins and minerals in it that provide necessary nutrients for your aged skin. It also moisturize the skin and make it soft, fresh and radiant. Squeeze out milk from a raw grated coconut and apply it on your face for about 20 minutes and then wash it off with warm water. For better results repeat this process twice a week.
Papaya is a treasure trove of vitamins A, minerals and an enzyme called papain. Vitamin A is good for eyes and skin, it act as an antioxidant. Papain improves elasticity and firmness of surface skin. It also helps to remove dead skin cells. To make a papaya face pack, take a small piece of a fully ripe papaya and mash it well into a fine paste. Apply it on your face evenly. After 15 minutes wash it out with fresh water. It will leave a supple and fresh skin behind. Regular use of this face pack will lessen the fine lines.
Skin starts looking dull when dead skin cells and dirt clogged in its tiny pores is not removed properly. Rose water is one of the best natural means to cleanse your skin. Along with cleansing it tightens the skin and reduce puffiness around eyes giving them a relaxed feeling. Prepare a mixture of 1 teaspoon of rose water with 2-3 drops of glycerin and a quarter teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this solution on your face before going to bed regularly. You will feel a great difference in 10-14 days.
Another face mask can be made by mixing a teaspoon of rose water, curd and honey each. Make a smooth paste of ripe banana with this mixture. Apply the mask on your face for 20-25 minutes then wash it out with cool water.
Cucumber and curd pack to rejuvenate skin and under-eye skin
In my previous article about Eye Care, I have explained the useful effectiveness of cucumber to prevent dark circles and puffiness under eyes in detail. Now I will tell you about a face pack of cucumber with curd. Mix a half cup of curd with 1 and a half table spoon of grated cucumber, apply it on your skin and let it work for 20 minutes, then wash it out with cool water. Curd will exfoliate the skin whereas cucumber will soothe and tone it. Using this face mask twice a week for a few months will give you a fresh wrinkle free and rejuvenated skin.
While the skin care remedies can help you to minimize the cruel effects of aging, it is more important to cure your skin from inside by providing it good food containing all the necessary nutrients in the right amount. Fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, cod lever oils, milk and the most importantly plenty of water helps to keep your skin youthful and healthy.
